Holiday breaks
Mid-year public-school holiday: family trips from Durban
The national public-school calendar in the Government Gazette applies to all provinces, including KwaZulu-Natal, so it covers Durban's public-school learners. Term 2 ends on 25 June 2027 and Term 3 starts on 20 July, giving a derived mid-year break of 26 June – 19 July, the longest of the year apart from December. The other derived breaks are 20 March – 5 April and 23 September – 4 October; learners finish on 8 December and staff on 10 December. The Western Cape department's all-province table shows the same dates. Independent schools and exam timetables vary.
