What to weigh
- Up to 5 days: a nearer destination and one base usually leave more time there (planning suggestion).
- 7–10 days: one country, one or two bases; medium-haul becomes worthwhile.
- 14 days or more: long-haul makes sense and a second region becomes realistic.
- Budget is for the whole family: four travellers roughly double a couple's airfare share.
- Busy school weeks can be crowded; compare a few departure options before booking (planning suggestion).
