Rio de Janeiro municipal schools' December recess: family trips
Rio de Janeiro's 2026 municipal school calendar (Resolution SME 550 of 22 December 2025) marks 21–24 December and 28–31 December 2026 as recess for early-childhood and fundamental education, with 25 December a holiday and 26–27 December a weekend. It covers municipal public schools at those stages only, not state, private, high-school, university or EJA calendars, and Article 7 allows changes. The 2027 return date is not verified here, so check your own school. The seven-day example, 21–27 December, is a planning window inside these non-class days, not the published length of the summer break.
