MTC cost guide

Kotor: dated trip-cost examples

Kotor’s appeal lies in the contrast between its enclosed medieval streets and the open bay beyond the walls. A short stay allows time for quiet early walks, waterfront pauses and an indoor heritage visit when the weather turns. This package stays around the Old Town; it does not price a coastal road trip through Montenegro.

Scope, dates and party

These are dated ground-cost examples for two adults sharing one room, six nights over seven days, 19–25 January 2027, researched on 30 September 2026. Flights, visas, insurance, shopping and unlisted excursions are excluded. Hotel rates are observations, not booked inventory or checkout prices, and the figures are not year-round ranges or calculator defaults.

What is specific to this budget

  • Three hotel-led tiers, each a named hotel observed for these dates, with two baskets each. Baskets A and B keep the hotel and change the meal and activity mix; a higher hotel tier does not imply luxury dining or private transport. Each hotel's name and its tax treatment are shown beside its figures.
  • Meals are deliberately priced outside the hotel; no included breakfast or verified room-only rate is claimed. Supplier tax fields are reconstructed and counted once.

Choose your base

Stay inside the walls for atmosphere, accepting that luggage may need to be carried from a gate. The selected hotels are in the Old Town. Keep two core sightseeing days and an optional slower day. The cost model allows a modest museum visit but excludes the fortress climb, cable car and boat trips; verify their separate operating dates and prices.

Dates and travel conditions

May–June and September–October usually balance sightseeing conditions and the busiest coastal periods. July and August can bring heat and cruise crowds. Winter is quieter and wetter, with fewer open services. Past winter events demonstrate activity outside summer, but their 2025/26 dates are not promised for January 2027.

Read the cost examples correctly

Dated editorial estimate for two adults sharing one room, 19–25 January 2027: six nights, seven calendar days, fourteen person-days. Hotel rates are observations, not booked inventory. Airport, local transport and museum envelope are editorial, not current operator quotes. No fortress or cable-car fee; January service availability needs refresh. Meals are deliberately purchased separately, including hotel restaurants if chosen; no room-only or included-breakfast claim is made. No meal credit is deducted without confirmed board.

Before you book

Tivat is the airport used here; Podgorica and Dubrovnik require different transfer plans. Allow about 20–45 minutes to the Old Town gate, with extra time for traffic. The taxi budget is an allowance informed by a published independent guide, not an airport-issued fixed fare. Check restaurant ingredients individually and confirm winter reception arrangements.
