Fukuoka or Jeju City for a January week?

Choose Fukuoka for food streets, shopping and an easy rail-linked city; choose Jeju City as a northern base for markets, cafés and short coastal outings. Both sets use the same dates, party and room basis, but the hotels and tax treatment differ.

Scope, dates and party

These are dated ground-cost illustrations for two adults sharing one room, six nights over seven days, 19–25 January 2027. Hotel prices are public room-table observations from 2 October 2026, not checkout-reconciled quotes. Flights, visas, insurance and regional trips are excluded. They are not bookable and not year-round ranges or calculator defaults.

What is specific to this budget

  • Hotel tax: Fukuoka adds 10% VAT plus a conditional accommodation-tax reserve; Jeju City adds a 10% hotel-tax reserve only.
  • Meals: Fukuoka uses a tax-inclusive family-restaurant menu; Jeju City uses a hotel restaurant whose menu includes tax and service — different kinds of benchmark.
  • No breakfast is credited in either city: all six hotel rates are room only.

Trade-offs

January is cold in both. Fukuoka is a compact city break; Jeju City is a base for an island whose waterfalls, mountain and southern resorts need separate trips not priced here.
