Holiday breaks
Osaka municipal schools' winter break: family trips
Osaka City's fiscal 2026 calendar ends the second term on 24 December 2026 and starts the third term on 8 January 2027. The days between, 25 December 2026 to 7 January 2027, are a derived window worked out from those two dates, not a separately published holiday. It covers municipal kindergartens, elementary, junior-high and compulsory-education schools only; principals may open one day later or close one day earlier. Prefectural high and special-needs schools, private schools and universities set their own dates, so verify your own school.

What to weigh
- Because a principal may close a day earlier or open a day later, confirm your own school's dates before booking.
- Children at a prefectural high school, a special-needs school or a private school follow different calendars; check each sibling's school.
- The shortlist is a cost-only illustration ranked on modelled cost; the calendar dates do not become an exact-date airfare search, and it does not filter by flight time, direct service, weather or entry rules. Check those yourself.
- The budget is an editable illustration in local currency for a family of four, not a typical, recommended or guaranteed amount.
