New Zealand school holidays: family trips from Christchurch
The Ministry of Education sets 2027 term breaks for state and state-integrated schools: 10–26 April, 3–18 July and 25 September – 10 October, all inclusive. Easter (Good Friday 26 March, Easter Monday 29 March and Easter Tuesday 30 March) falls before the April holidays and is separate from them. Summer timing is a range, not one date: 2026 holidays start no later than 19 December, each school chooses its close, and 2027 starts between 28 January and 3 February, so not every school returns on 3 February. Teacher-only and local anniversary days vary.
