A package bundles flights, stay and often transfers into one booking and one point of contact; an independent trip lets you choose each part and change it separately. Compare the package price with the sum of the same parts, and check who is responsible if a flight or hotel changes. Consumer protections depend on the country where you book.
The worked example shows the components you would otherwise book one by one. Add the parts the package includes and set aside what it leaves out, such as food, activities and local transport.
Separate bookings mean separate conditions: if one flight is delayed, a hotel booked elsewhere may not adjust. Read each provider's change and cancellation terms.
How to do it
1List exactly what the package includes.
2Price the same parts independently for the same dates.
3Compare flexibility: which parts can you change or cancel, and at what cost?
4Check which protections apply where you book; do not assume another country's rules.

What this example assumes
On-the-ground costs come from the site's cost bands, whose data reference is 2026-08-23. Loading this page does not refresh that data.
Rooms are one room per two travellers. There is no children's pricing and no age-based discount anywhere in the model.
Airfare is modelled from the departure metro and the travel month. It is not a quote, and if you already hold a real fare you should enter it in the calculator so it replaces the modelled one.

Where this goes wrong
Comparing a package with only your flight and hotel, leaving out its transfers.
Assuming legal protections from one country apply everywhere.
Booking separate tickets with a tight connection and no protection if one is late.
What this guide does not do
Every figure on this page is a modelled estimate built from typical costs for the stated scenario. It is not a live fare, not a live room rate, not an offer and not a booking.
Visa costs, travel insurance and card charges are conditional questions that depend on your passport, your insurer and your bank. This guide tells you to ask them; it does not answer them for you, and it is not legal or financial advice.
