Munich or Frankfurt for a January week?

Choose Munich for beer halls, big museums and a Bavarian old town; choose Frankfurt for a compact rebuilt old town, riverside museums and the easiest long-haul airport. Both sets use the same dates, party and room basis.

Scope, dates and party

These are dated ground-cost illustrations for two adults sharing one room, six nights over seven days, 19–25 January 2027. Hotel prices are public room-table observations from 2 October 2026, not checkout-reconciled quotes. Flights, visas, insurance and regional trips are excluded. They are not bookable and not year-round ranges or calculator defaults.

What is specific to this budget

  • Hotel tax: both reserve 7% hotel VAT. Frankfurt also adds a per-person city tax; Munich adds none because its proposed tax is not law.
  • Breakfast: only Hampton in Frankfurt includes it (credited once); the other five hotels are room only.
  • Cancellation: all six priced rates are non-refundable.

Trade-offs

Both are cold in January and good for museums. Trade fairs can push Frankfurt prices up on other dates; Munich's Alps and castles are separate trips not priced here.
