MTC cost guide

How much does a week in Mahé and Beau Vallon cost?

Mahé is expensive mainly because of room rates. The examples base you at Beau Vallon, use the public bus and road transfers, and list VAT and the Seychelles sustainability levy explicitly.

Scope, dates and party

These are dated ground-cost examples for two adults sharing one room, staying six nights over seven days, 10–16 November 2026. International flights, visas, insurance and shopping are excluded. They are planning examples, not live booking offers or year-round price ranges.

What is specific to this budget

  • Hotel lines are net room rates. VAT and the per-adult nightly sustainability levy are separate lines, each counted once; the suppliers' unexplained tax totals are not added.
  • The budget, mid-range and luxury tiers are led by the hotel: each tier is one named, date-matched hotel, and baskets A and B mainly change the food and activity mix; in some scopes (for example Rio) a basket also swaps transport, such as a private tour replacing bus trips. A higher hotel tier does not imply luxury dining or private transport.
  • What changes the bill most: the hotel you pick, the season and exact dates, and whether you keep to public transport. Party composition and room requirements can change pricing; these examples are for two adults in one room, so a different party needs repricing rather than linear multiplication.

Self-catering or resort?

The budget tier is Thalassa, a small self-catering property about 500 m from Beau Vallon beach — not beachfront — which is exempt from the levy under the 2026 small-property rule. The mid-range and luxury tiers are beach hotels, and the levy applies.

All food is bought separately in every tier, with no hotel breakfast assumed, so the gap between tiers is mostly the room. Other islands are not priced.

Dated cost examples

Six dated, itemised examples from 2026-11-10 to 2026-11-16: 6 nights and 7 days for two adults sharing one room, which is 14 person-days. Prices are as observed in September 2026, cover ground costs only, and are not multiplied out to other party sizes or trip lengths.

Dated planning estimate for two adults sharing one room, 10–16 November 2026, seven days/six nights. Flights excluded. Actual prices, availability, taxes and transport timing may differ; see the assumptions.

Seychelles hotel lines are net room rates. VAT (15%) and the SCR 100 per adult-night sustainability levy are listed explicitly and counted once; the suppliers' unexplained tax totals are not added. The budget sample, Thalassa, is a small self-catering property about 500 m from Beau Vallon beach, not beachfront, and is exempt from the levy.

Practical notes

Arrive at SEZ and use the separately priced road transfer to Beau Vallon. The bus basket is one eight-day visitor card per adult; private taxis and inter-island travel are excluded. Plan Victoria and the botanical garden around bus operating hours. The lower-cost sample is self-catering Thalassa, about 500 m from the beach. Coral Strand and Savoy are the higher hotel samples. Their model includes SCR 100 per adult per night; Thalassa is exempt under the 2026 small-property rule. Accommodation VAT and the levy are shown separately and counted once.

Limits of these examples

Planning estimates that combine a dated room rate with separately published tax rules; not an invoice or a guaranteed booking. Room category, bedding and cancellation terms were not shown. The budget example is Thalassa, a 15-room self-catering property about 500 m from the beach. All meals are bought separately, even if an offer includes breakfast; recalculate if you use included meals. Food prices are a limited Victoria reference, the bus visitor-card price should be refreshed before travel, and the exchange rate is indicative. Praslin, La Digue, boat trips, water sports and inter-island travel are not included.
