MTC cost guide

What a Cape Town city week with Table Mountain costs

Budget for getting between Cape Town’s sights as well as sleeping and eating there. These examples include a city hotel and the specified Table Mountain visit, but not a safari, the Garden Route or a full Cape Peninsula tour.

Scope, dates and party

These are dated ground-cost examples for two adults sharing one room, staying six nights over seven days, 10–16 November 2026. International flights, visas, insurance and shopping are excluded. They are planning examples, not live booking offers or year-round price ranges.

What is specific to this budget

  • Airport transfers and local journeys are separate lines.
  • The return cableway ticket is counted once per person. The cableway depends on the weather, so keep an alternative city day.
  • Each hotel tier has two baskets. A and B keep the same hotel, party and dates; they change the food and activity mix. A luxury hotel tier does not imply luxury dining or private transfers.

Dated cost examples

Six dated, itemised examples from 2026-11-10 to 2026-11-16: 6 nights and 7 days for two adults sharing one room, which is 14 person-days. Prices are as observed in September 2026, cover ground costs only, and are not multiplied out to other party sizes or trip lengths.

Dated planning estimate for two adults sharing one room, 10–16 November 2026, seven days/six nights. Flights excluded. Actual prices, availability, taxes and transport timing may differ; see the assumptions.

Practical notes

CPT transfers are priced separately from local rides. The local budget models twelve five-kilometre vehicle legs plus two ten-kilometre legs for mountain access; actual routes and waiting can cost more. No airport hotel is used as a city-stay sample. The cableway ticket is a return ticket, so do not add a second descent charge.

Limits of these examples

Bounded scope only; does not complete the entire country. Hotel board, bedding and cancellation are not exposed; tax field interpretation is recorded. Numeric traits/month scores are editorial proposals, not survey results, safety ratings or new scoring logic. Taxi distance baskets are explicit estimates, not route-specific live quotes. Cableway may close; ticket validity/refund terms require previsit checking. Published page is already live; only this proposed research delta remains unimplemented.
