Two South American city weeks with separately purchased meals and explicit hotel-tax reserves.
Scope, dates and party
These are dated ground-cost examples for two adults sharing one room, six nights over seven days, 19–25 January 2027, researched on 30 September 2026. Flights, visas, insurance, shopping and unlisted excursions are excluded. Hotel rates are observations, not booked inventory or checkout prices, and the figures are not year-round ranges or calculator defaults.
What is specific to this budget
Both examples use two adults, one room and 19–25 January 2027. Compare equivalent hotel tiers and meal variants. This is a fixed ground-cost illustration, not a live fare quote, an annual price ranking or a six-night minimum-stay recommendation.
Three hotel-led tiers, each a named hotel observed for these dates, with two baskets each. Baskets A and B keep the hotel and change the meal and activity mix; a higher hotel tier does not imply luxury dining or private transport. Each hotel's name and its tax treatment are shown beside its figures.
A VAT reserve is included because the foreign-visitor exemption is not confirmed; remove it only after eligibility is confirmed.

Trade-offs
Buenos Aires includes its urban levy and a 21% hotel VAT reserve; Santiago uses a 19% reserve until eligibility is confirmed. Free museum/public-space programmes exclude paid shows, cable cars and distant excursions. Santiago’s selected upscale hotel is only modestly above its middle sample; that observed gap is preserved.
What the Buenos Aires trip covers
Buenos Aires is best explored through its neighbourhoods rather than a single monument checklist. Recoleta, Palermo and San Telmo offer distinct combinations of architecture, cafés, parks and street life. Give each area time, and use the city’s central landmarks as a connecting thread. This stay is entirely within Buenos Aires.
What the Santiago trip covers
Santiago works as a city stay as well as an arrival point for Chile. Historic streets, neighbourhood cafés and urban viewpoints offer a manageable introduction without adding a domestic flight. Focus on the centre, Lastarria and Providencia, and treat any trip to the coast, mountains or distant national parks as a separate extension.
Season and travel conditions
March–April and September–November are generally appealing for long urban walks. January is southern summer and can be hot and humid, so plan indoor breaks. Existing monthly values are retained even where a later editorial review might refine them. They are suitability scores, not forecasts or guarantees of a particular event.
Spring and autumn are strong general choices for walking through Santiago. January is summer: plan shade and indoor breaks instead of assuming mild daytime temperatures. Winter can bring cooler, wetter conditions and restricted mountain visibility. The monthly scores are editorial city-suitability proposals, not forecasts or a ski-season guide.
Limits of these examples
EZE and Aeroparque are distinct airports. Twelve local vehicle rides are budgeted separately. Public walks and Bellas Artes are included; cemetery admission and tango shows require extra pricing. Check halal preparation directly.
Allow roughly 30–60 minutes as an editorial traffic allowance, not a timetable. Twelve local vehicle rides are budgeted separately. Free Bellas Artes and public walks are included; funicular, cable car, Sky Costanera and coastal/mountain tours are excluded.
